Colorful Humming Bird

We had a hummingbird fly into our workshop today and it could not seem to find it's way out before smacking into the wall hard enough to knock itself out, but still breathing. We're doing what we can to keep it safe in a cage while it heals to keep the cats away from it. Neither of us had been this close to a humming bird before.

We were amazed what colors would sparkle at just the right angle, but if you move your head just a few inches to the side they seem to disappear.

I was lucky to capture this one shot out of 4 that showed fairly well, but still not as vibrant as seeing it in person. Sorry the focus was not better. Chris was holding it with his dirty bloody hands while I took this shot, and no it was not because of this tiny bird. He had just cut his hand while cutting some plywood for a shipping crate on the table saw. An interesting contrast don't you think? Beauty and the Beast!
